Condition Ratings

Sometimes buying online can be tricky. To make it as easy as possible to know what condition a products is in, we've created a sports-specific condition rating system. 

 

GOLF CLUBS

Rating	Condition
10	NEW in original wrapping
9.5	NEW but with original wrapping removed. The club has never hit a ball!
9	Like NEW but may have hit a ball a few times. Possibly a very lightly used demo.
8.5	Excellent condition with only very light evidence that the club has been used. Possibly a few light scrapes (on the base of the club only) consistent with having been used as a demo or at the range only.
8	Excellent condition. A few minor scrapes on the base or very light marks around the head. Very minor grip wear.
7.5	Very good condition. Some marking around head (possibly moderate on the base) and minor marks or imperfections on the head. Light to moderate grip wear.
7	Good condition. Numerous light marks or one area of heavier marking or groove wear on the face. Light to moderate grip wear.
6.5	Fair condition. Numerous imperfections which may be in less desirable locations on the club I.e the top of the club head (seen at address) like sky-ball marks or heavier face wear. Moderate grip wear.
6	A bit rough. Heavy marking in numerous locations around the club head. Obvious heavy use and possibly excessive grip wear.
5.5 to 5	Functional condition with no cracks or defects but with a very rough appearance.
4.5 & below	Not available at Recreation Station.

 

SKI & SNOWBOARD

For greater clarity we rate ski/board base, top and (if the snowboard comes with bindings) the rating for the binding condition separately.

10	NEW with original wrapping
9.5	NEW but with original wrapping removed
9	Like new condition with little to no evidence they have ever been ridden/used.
8.5	Excellent condition with little if any signs of use. Light scratches possible but not easily seen
8	Excellent condition with only light marks, no base cuts or chips in the top coat of the skis/board.
7.5	Very good condition. Possibly some cuts in the base but nothing requiring repair. Perhaps some light damage around the edges but generally cosmetically very good.
7	Good condition. May have lots of light wear on edges or one more substantial area of wear. Nothing requiring repair on bases but potentially in need or a wax and grind.
6.5	Fair condition. No repairs needed unless specifically stated but obviously well used. Considerable marking to the upper surface but again, nothing requiring repair.
6	A bit rough. Heavy wear on bases and tops, cosmetically flawed in many places but no areas of structural damage requiring repair unless specifically stated.
5.5 & below	Not stocked by Recreation Station.

 

SURFBOARDS

Rating	Description
10	NEW
9.5	NEW but without packaging and labels
9	Like new with no evidence that the board has ever been waxed or ridden
8.5	Excellent condition with no dings and only the lightest of marking or a few light pressure dings.
8	Excellent condition with only a few pressure type dings or very light dings to the edge of the board. No cracks and no rail damage.
7.5	Very good condition with possibly some light cracking on rails but any dings will be fully watertight. Numerous pressure dings but nothing requiring repair.
7	Good condition but with numerous repaired dings or pressure dings on the board. Possibly mis-matched repair resin making the repair more noticeable. Possibly dings on nose or tail which may require repair but not urgently.
6.5	Fair condition but a well used board with lots of pressure dings or repaired rail damage. Possibility of a repair needing to be done in one place but no soft sections.
6	A bit rough. Many areas of light damage and heavy sections of pressure damage but mostly water-tight. Possibly a section where water has got into a ding rending a small bit of flex in the resin.
5.5 & below	Not stocked at Recreation Station.

 

RACKET SPORTS

Rating	Condition
10	NEW with original packaging
9.5	NEW but with original packaging removed.
9	Like new with little evidence it has ever been used.
8.5	Excellent condition with only a few light marks to the head of the racket. Very light grip wear.
8	Excellent condition with only a few light marks or a small chip in the finish on the head of the racket. Light grip wear.
7.5	Very good condition but with a number of marks on the head or a number of small chips in the finish. Possibly showing string age but in mostly very good cosmetic condition.
7	Good condition but with a number of cosmetic chips in the finish around the head of the racket. Some string age evident and possibly moderate grip wear.
6.5	Fair condition but with a number of visual imperfections. Strings or grip may need replacing but structurally good.
6	A bit rough all over but with no structural issues.
5.5 & below	Not stocked at Recreation Station.

 

SNOWBOARD AND SKI BOOTS

Rating	Condition
10	NEW in original packaging
9.5	NEW but without box or original tags
9	Like new with little evidence that they have ever been worn outdoors.
8.5	Excellent condition showing only like marks on the base and little to no imperfections on the upper.
8	Excellent condition with only minor use evident. Soles may show light to moderate use but the uppers will be very nice with little signs of wear or only light marking.
7.5	Very good condition with some cosmetic scuffing on the upper and moderate wear on the base.
7	Good condition with numerous areas of light wear or one area of more substantial wear but overall fully functional.
6.5	Fair condition but plenty of signs of wear. Nothing requiring repair but showing signs of having been well used.
6	A bit rough with signs of decay of the inside of the boot or some areas of damage to the outside of the boot. Still functional but not beautiful.
5.5	Functional condition but many areas showing heavy use and wear.
5 & below	Not stocked by Recreation Station
